How all this got started

So let me tell you how I got started in the scrapbooking business. You know us girls we always save our little ticket stubs, toothpick flags, beer bottle labels (oh wait that was once I was in college) and we put them on construction paper or in the clear view binder covers that was meant for more important papers from our English classes! In other words 90 % of us women have scrapbooked someway, somehow and sometime in our lives!

In 2004, I remember this clearly, my friend and confidante, invited me to an event featuring Creative Memories. She had just signed up to be a consultant and wanted her friends to see what she was getting into. I was curious to get into scrapbooking because in November of 2003 my family went on the trip of a lifetime to Disney World and I wanted to make memory books of the trip. So I went and I bought a pair of scissors and a small paper trimmer and got started. Later on I bought an album, some stickers and embellishments from my friend but I never did put that memory books together! I still have everything though. In other words, they never ended up in a garage sale or going to Goodwill. Thank goodness because in 2009 or 2010, Tammy told me about a card club she got involved with. Tammy quit selling Creative Memories when it didn't take off like she had wanted and like most of us (Tupperware, Avon, Mary Kay past representatives) understand completely! Anyway, this card club was put on by a Close to My Heart consultant and it's a few years later and my kids are older and can take care of themselves and my husband is okay with me taking one night off a month to attend, I was able to sign up. Tammy also brought in her closer friend, Cindy and we used to go twice a month (now) to learn new tricks, make new cards and scrapbook pages and spend our hard earned grocery money! But we had a great time doing it. We went to a few crops put on by the consultant and even a weekend retreat. In time though, she stopped having the bi-weekly classes and my friends and I were, well, distraught! So I planned a day crop last year at a local hotel and it was a hit! So much so we try to have one every other month. We would like to do it once a month. I signed up in April of 2014 mainly for the good deal being offered but with Tammy's sweet approach she as suggested I set up card and scrapbook page workshops! Bless her heart for having the faith in me to do this!

I am looking forward to this new adventure especially since I just retired after 27 years in county government. Right now I am getting together paper, ink, stamps, embellishments and instructions in order to set up card classes and workshops to teach new tricks, meet new people and hang out with my friends and hopefully make some money while doing it. That or being able to keep up my habit with all new stuff!
